SPIED! MORE All-new Spy Shots Of The Upcoming Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Show Us Some DETAIL
We've been keeping a close eye on the development of the next-gen Mercedes-Benz S-Class. To us, and many others, the Mercedes S is the pinnacle for large luxury sedans.

And as the market shifts, so does the S. Sometimes it's ahead of the curve and other times it is lagging.

One thing is certain, however. The three-pointed star always is the king of the castle. Whether you're a foreign nation's leader, fashion lightning rod Anna Wintour, musician John Mayer or a corporate executive, the S is the benchmark. Everything else follows.

Although I showed you what may have been a leaked image of its interior just the other day, I wanted to elevate some of the latest images of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.

That's because these exterior shots are revealing a little bit more each time.

This 'go around we get a good look at the S-Class' headlights and front grille. While the rear taillights are quite masked up, it appears obvious that they will follow the headlights rather "squinted" look. Pop out door handles that "present" themselves to you upon approaching the vehicle also are seen in detail. Hm, I wonder where Merecedes got that idea from?

From the vehicle's side profile it's clear this is significantly longer over the standard S-Class, of which we've seen a ton of spy shots.

I have a current 12 cylinder Maybach right now - it is my favorite sedan - even over my Phantom - but at my age - I no longer put huge mileage on my cars and will likely get to the mid cycle refresh before I am thinking about a new one. I have not broken 4000 miles yet. My Phantom has even less.

I was under the impression that they were going to discontinue the V-12 - which would be a real MINUS for me as well.

While have the latest and greatest may be something some people need - I have found that as they add more and more features - you almost need a BOOK to figure out how to use them all - but I find that I am not even interested in doing so. THe Multi-media systems pretty much are used to play pre-recorded USB Sticks - I could have done that without all the other do-dads. I hardly ever use a GPS. Never use the rear seat movie screens unless I have a grandchild in the back seat.

While I still regularly drive back and forth from NJ to Florida - often straight through - I don't really need a radio that I can talk to - for presets. WHat I want is a really good driver's seat - luxury handling and ride comfort - and wipers that can keep the windshield clean. There isn't much they do not have on that car - that they can add for me. THat huge screen may be a plus for some - but it is overkill in my mind - and eventually those screen go bad.

The rise and fall DLO line and the sagging droopy diaper ass are unfortunate styling traits of Mercedes.

The rear taillight design, while camo'd, looks a bit like a Maserati. And not sure how the CLS-like headlights will work on a larger, rounder design of the S-Sedan.

Long time before iphone generation will be in the market for a full size luxury sedan, let alone an S-Class. Making a new model with a 25 year old buyer in mind is not a good move. A digital dash inside the binacle looks ok, ie what Ferrari is doing on the SF90. Tacking on screens that look a bit out of place like Mercedes and very soon Cadillac are doing is not so good.
