Laugh If You Like, But Tesla Was The Best Performing Automaker Stock This Decade

Among the biggest surprises of the past decade was the initial public offering of the Palo Alto company that outperformed every automaker from Detroit to Toyota City to Wolfsburg and is now the undisputed champion of total return, sales growth and long-term shareholder value.

That would be 10-year-old Tesla and its zero-emission, battery electric Model S, X and 3.

Co-founder Elon Musk may be the most-ridiculed and penalized CEO since the Securities and Exchange Commission made him pay a $20 million fine for misleading tweets last year.

We had an excellent time. The rain stopped long enough to not be an issue. It's deluge today.

The Interceptor is an LS7 conversion with a Corvette wiring harness. It's as reliable as a Chevy. One of the other cars that went to storage was a Iso Grifo that I found in Georgia and bought thinking I could flip it. It was so rust eaten that major fabrication was needed. So its a mongrel of Chevy Corvette parts and no longer authentic except in appearance. Looking like it does--if it were authentic--it would easily be a $150K car. I have probably $125K into it and it's probably worth $25 because it's a mongrel.

It and the Interceptor go to Newport Beach every once in a while on my business jaunts.

We had a tremendous time. Hope yours was too.

Thanks, it was great, plus 62 degrees in Chicago was a real gift.
I read that earlier this year a 1973 Iso Grifo sold for $475,000 at auction. It was in mint condition, but with a new interior.
Does yours have the Corvette or Ford V8? It is easily one of the most interesting Italian supercars from its time.

Tesla shareholders are a strange lot. They buy Tesla stock in spite of losses.

I bought around $30/share, epic return so far. Years ago I sold enough to cover all my initial costs and then some. It's one of my best performing stocks, but surprisingly not my best one--Adobe and Google beat it out. I still think TSLA could double again over the next 5 years and it is by far the most entertaining stock to watch and debate.
