Ford And VW Collaboration May Spawn A Baby Mach-E

Ford is aiming to use its tie-up with Volkswagen on electric vehicle platforms to expand the range of Mustang EVs beyond the recently revealed Mach-E, Auto Express understands.

The US manufacturer caused a storm in November when it revealed the Mustang Mach-E as its first bespoke EV. High-level sources have indicated that Ford is already considering expanding the family to appeal to a wider range of customers.

How long before Ford and VW merge? Last man standing. Make a strategic move while you can....

Ford is definitely the stronger of the two on clear-headed product development.

VW is the "Old GM" of Europe with Buick, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Saturn.

VW needs to kill Skoda and or SEAT. They should turn Audi into a German Subaru brand.

Ford would never do a boring Golf. The Focus--for some time--has been a better product than the Jetta and ditto the FusDeo versus Passat.

Ford could use VW's skateboard to its advantage.

VW isn't smart enough to borrow the CD6 to replace the dismal Touareg and the badge engineered garbage they pull off the Touareg.

MDarringer you must be looking at US sales only. Worldwide, VW had record sales in 2018. In 2018, Toyota was again the world’s leading car brand with sales increasing to just over 8 million vehicles worldwide. Volkswagen was second with sales increasing to over 6.7 million cars while Ford sales contracted by 11% to just over 5.3 million vehicles sold worldwide in 2018. The Ford F-Series and Toyota Corolla were the world’s top-selling car models in 2018. VW must be doing something right while Ford isn't since their sales decreased. If it wasn't for Ford trucks they would be way
underwater, no wonder they decided to stop making cars.

Totally agree on the comments "VW is the "Old GM" of Europe with Buick, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Saturn".
VW needs to find a way to get rid of all those unions in the EU that are slowly causing them to be another GM bankruptcy example.

@USNA1999

VW is NOT sustainable in its current form. Ford is leaner and meaner.

Ford's EV successfully invokes the love of the Mustang whereas the ID3 evokes a Cold-War, Mother-Russia, Eastern-Bloc penalty Polonez shitbox kind of despair and ruin.

Aside from Porsche and Lamborghini, VWAG has nothing that stirs the imagination like a Mach E. Absolutely nothing.

Look at what happened with Mercedes and Chrysler's failed union.

LOL Chrysler’s most successful models on sale today are still based on Mercedes from over a decade ago. On the flip Merc gained access to Mercedes commercial sales for its successful sprinter and a boosted dealer network throughout the states.
