Nissan Goes On Life Support In 2020 Ordering Massive Spending Cuts
Nissan Motor Co. has told its managers to slash non-essential spending as the automaker grapples with slumping car sales and tumbling profits, three company sources with knowledge of the matter told Reuters.

The penny-pinching drive is in place for the rest of financial year until end-March and will most likely continue into the coming business year, they said.

Nissan needs to kill the Maxima, Frontier, Titan, GTR, 370Z, and all of Infiniti. They then need to fire their styling department. But the biggest think they need to do is to get away from the culture of ugliness and low-quality of Renault. Nissan is 60% of Renault's profits but Renault rapes them in return. The Japanese government should fabricate some "national crisis" BS and kick Renault to the curb.

Makes you wonder about the fate of Infiniti

Infiniti needs to be given the axe. It has not a shot in hell of ever being taken seriously.

THe only really interesting Infiniti Nissan ever produced was the Original Q-45 with the active suspension - ahead of its time. Otherwise it was badge engineering at its worst. THey don't really have the money to make it anymore. There are just too many cars in this class - 2nd Tier Luxury - and Nissan has made its product too CHEAP to last - and worse - everyone knows it now.

Infiniti is where Nissan could "grow" in profits easiest. They just have to cut out the old mess, use the in-demand tech they already have, & add CUV's to the lineup.

What a patently stupid statement: "Infiniti is where Nissan could "grow" in profits easiest."

Infiniti would require tens of billions of dollars in new platforms, new and compelling products that set the industry standard, engineering to make that happen, and aggressive marketing over a decade to move the metal in order to have a so-so chance of breaking through to be considered a Mercedes or Tesla alternative.

The better statement is that Infiniti is where Nissan could squander their profits easiest.

Pulling the plug on Infiniti is the correct move.

Is this a repeat of 1999 when Nissan was near bankruptcy? I wonder which other automotive manufacturer will bail them out this time??

PSAFCA would be a good guess especially if PSA can get Nissan and Mitsubishi.

Ford in many ways is in better shape than VW.
