BMW's Vision Of A Pickup Can't Even Haul A Dirt Bike, But Does It Matter?

The BMW X7 Pickup is one of the more interesting vehicles built by BMW in recent years, and even though it won’t hit the production line, it has proven to be quite a head-turner.

Unveiled back in July, the X7 Pickup was created purely for show purposes and was recently put on display at BMW Welt next to the company’s headquarters in Munich.

BMW should work with a partner like Ford to do a real pickup, but not just a rebadge of an F150.

Start off with the F150 and bolt in the IRS from the Expedition [and yes it's a bolt in].

Add in a BMW engine and transmission combo under the hood. Throw in hybridization, then electrification as the F150 allows for an up-level option.

Give it a BMW styled body from nose to tail that shares no hard points with the F150.

Tune it for a tad more handling and price it right, say 15% more than an American pickup when comparably equipped.

I would say use the Tundra, but the Tundra is an unspeakable TuRD.

Doesn't matter. The vast majority of truck buyers don't go off road or haul anything. Keep these pieces of farm equipment where they belong.

This was a styling exercise - and has as much chance of becoming real as a Cadillac Ciel. (THe Escala is coming but is a different car).
