Huh? People’s Car of the Year Is The Bentley Continental GT
As people, we often refer to “the people” as the average. Sure, there are people with 42 supercars at home and people with none at all, but “the people,” as a collective, are the leased Toyota Corollas of the world. Thus, any normal person assumes the recipient of an award called the “People’s Car of the Year” would be on Corolla levels, or at least somewhere within that stratosphere.

An aspirational car for sure! Who wouldn't dream of showing up at their high school reunion, on a first date or mother-in-law's place in a Bentley. Pure class. You are what you drive (in your mind's eye that is).

The strange thing about the new Continental GT is that even though the extrior is larger it is tiny inside (unlike the old Continental GT which was pretty large inside).

The back seat (kind of like the BMW 6 and 8 series) is barely usable in the coupe and is basically only usable by amputees (apologies in advance to any amputees out there!) in the cabriolet. The trunk/boot has shrunk to Aston Martin size - golf clubs look like they will not fit.

I have a prior gen CGT Cabriolet (it has depreciated too much for me to trade it in plus I like it) and the back seat can be comfortably occupied by normal adults for an hour or two.

Christina Anstead drives one and that's all the evidence I need of its excellence.

So...Flip...or...Flop?

...Or yet another unsold Bentley loaned to a celebrity?

I guess it depends on the definition of the award.

If this is the the car that "the people", whomever they be, have chosen as the best car of the year, then I say there's no finer recipient of said award.

If this is intended to be an award for a car that is ostensibly for "the people", then this makes no sense.
