Autocar Writers Name Tesla Model S The Car Of The Decade
There have been plenty of bumps in the road for Tesla and some for owners of the Model S, especially the early adopters. But when you consider that the Tesla brand did not exist before 2003, that it is now heading for its millionth sale, that it is known across most of the world and that it has, for the most part, an excellent reputation, its achievement is astonishing. True, the company has yet to show a yearly profit – it recently surprised analysts with a quarterly profit – but it will probably get there, despite the shattering glass of its bizarre new Cybertruck.

Totally agree with that choice. It paved the way for mainstreaming of EVs more than any other car. It was desirable, fast, stylish (in a good way), reliable etc...

Totally agree, and it showed mainstream as well as premium luxury makes that consumers were willing to pay luxury prices north of $80k for an EV packed with the latest tech and EVs don’t have to be eye soars like an i3 or Prius.

The fact that it’s been out since 2011 and still looks decent is impressive as well, can’t think of too many other cars that came out in 2011 and could still hold their own design wise in their respective categories nearly a decade later

And Autocar is so respected. #NOT

The car of the decade is clearly the crossover.

#MD- It is a Car of the decade prize. Not the segment of the decade. The Model S has changed the auto industry for years to come. Not other single vehicle has had that kind of impact in the last 10 years.

Maybe the dudes at Autocar should contact Car & Driver mag to see how their Tesla DROPPED DEAD on the road.
And you know what a car is worth that DROPS DEAD, right?

Love the Model S, but I really think the 3 is the car of the decade given that is really what has brought EVs to the mainstream.

Not really, selling 40k EVs a year that have limited range and charging infrastructure will not make much of a dent. Only EV enthusiasts bought the Leaf, people are buying a Model 3 that could care less how it runs (besides the cost advantages). That is real mainstream when non-environmentalists are getting the car at affordable prices.
