BMW Says It Could Be Building Electric Motorcycles Within Five Years

It’s not just electric cars that have started to pop up with increased frequency in recent years as all-electric motorcycles are also becoming more commonplace. BMW Motorrad doesn’t appear to be in a rush to bring electric bikes of its own to the market, however.

 

While recently speaking with Cycle World, head of BMW Motorrad Dr. Markus Schramm said that electric motorcycles may make sense in urban environments, but that could be it.

I have been riding BMW motorcycles for the past 40 years. It was the evolution of the fabulous high performance BMW engines that kept me in the fold. The six cylinder engine in my K1600 GT is the heart and soul of the bike. I have NO INTEREST in purchasing or riding a two wheel golf cart.

@skytop Typical limited thinking. And EV motorcycle does not suggest that the ICE motorcycles are trash. BUT with BMW NOT leading--yet again--in the motorcycle world, they will continue to be more and more passe, except with the nose-uppity crowd.
