Tesla just crushed it. Congrats to all at Tesla and Elon... well deserved news. Keep fighting the good fight. The others will be dragged along eventually.

But, did they make a profit

The stock is on fire, investors apparently don’t care about profits. Remember Pets.com?

Q4, very likely profitable like Q3.

Yes, Tesla might be the 'Pets.Com' of 2020...or it might be the Enron or the Worldcom?

I don't think Pets.com ever had a profitable quarter, or an actual product.

If they announce another loss and/or creative accounting the stock will drop dramatically.

Highest global sales of all time with 112,000 cars delivered.

Tesla sales have tanked here because Ontario the most populous province did away with the stupid $7500/Corporate Welfare subsidy on these cars and good riddance. Couple that with an average wait time of 47 days to get Tesla service and you can understand why people are more reluctant to buy them especially at full sticker...

I haven't been following Tesla's results. Is 37K units per month on average globally a strong number?

Total sales of about 112k in December is pretty amazing considering companies that have a broad range of vehicles have been around for many years, well established in almost every market, such as Toyota are only selling 170k units globally.

valhallakey, the 170,000 for Toyota is for US sales only. Toyota sold 10.7 million cars globally in 2019, an estimated 760,000 in December. Worth noting is that TMC estimated earnings for 2019 are $23 billion. Let me know if and when tesla ever makes an annual profit.

Good catch, Jazzyjazz. So, to recap, Toyota sells about 2.5 million cars globally in the 4th quarter and over 660,000 in the quarter in the US alone, while Tesla sold just 112,000 mostly subsidized cars globally in the 4th quarter.
Valhallakey, you got nothing right.

yea yea yea you are all right and I was wrong, totally misread the article... but I will say too bad for all the people out there shorting Tesla --> https://www.reuters.com/article/us-tesla-deliveries-shorts/tesla-rally-leaves-short-sellers-down-3-billion-since-2018-idUSKBN1Z21W1

So Telsa will lose money again in 2019, and likely 2020.

But they'll make it up in volumes. What a joke.

I think 2020 will be their first profitable year
