Aussie Company Adds A Gasoline Motor To The Model 3 And Deems It A
A company in Austria believes that they can make the Tesla Model 3 “better and cheaper” and they demonstrated their technology in a prototype by adding a two-cylinder petrol engine and removing some batteries in the Model 3 – creating the worst Tesla ever.

Obrist Powertrain, the brainchild of engineer Frank Obrist, developed what they claim to be a “Zero Vibration Generator”, which is a small two-cylinder  petrol engine with an output of 40 KW / 54 HP and a weight of only 95 kg.

What a waste of a perfectly good Model 3.

Ship has sailed, everyone is pulling back R&D investment in ICE powertrains and shifting focus on EVs. Putting a hybrid in one of these would eliminate many of the pluses of an purpose-built EV... you'd need to maintain the motor, go to gas stations, have extra weight to haul around, extra noise/vibrations, less storage space, more components to break, etc. Not worth it. Would rather see a more compact version of the Model 3 with a smaller battery to hit the under $35k segment.
