BMW Claims It Will Build Internal Combustion Engines For At Least 30 More Years In The US
BMW’s head of Research and Development Klaus Froehlich does not have any plans to push his company into the quickly growing electric vehicle sector. In a recent interview, the BMW exec stated that he believes the various markets of the world simply do not have a real need for electric car

BMW has the i3 and the i8, but it seems that the company is in no rush to transition into a fully electric lineup despite the environmental urgency and growing appeal of electric vehicles to mainstream buyers. Froehlich stated in an interview with Automotive News that BMW will continue to make gas engines for at least 30 years more.

i'm thinking the "claim" is an exercise is reminding most every that EV's are going to take-over the industry so soon. besides the US, there are both larger & smaller & less-developed markets that will continue to use ICE vehicles for the foreseeable future.

There's not a REAL need to convert an entire lineup to EV offerings. To have 1 or 2 now is good - along with the various interesting hybrid configurations.

When senile old Communist Bernie Sanders and lying Pocahontas Warren and insane Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez read this article, they will spin like a top with liberal hateful rage.

It's only becoming more obvious as weather becomes more extreme. Snow in LA, floods in Israel.. when we f with the atmosphere we're going to get more polarizing weather patterns.

If the naysayers are right and we continue the current plan, then we end up with cleaner air.
If the alarmists are right and we do nothing, most of us die.

Pretty obvious choice in the risk/reward matrix.

Even with EVs - there will not be the infrastructure to support much more than 10% of the car sales as EVs - AND - it appears that EVs will be priced well above what the average AMERICAN car buyer can afford.

It is OBVIOUS that ICE engines will be with us - and unless they - sometime in the future - outlaw them - for many decades.

Silicon Valley is supporting over 10% in EV car sales right now, some arctic circle countries are at 30-40%. It's a lot easier to add electric capacity and put up some more chargers than it is to build gas stations. You can add 200 EV chargers for the cost of one new gas station.

Thank God for this. I don't want an EV as a sports sedan. I want the aural and tactile feedback that an ICE drivetrain provides.
