VIDEO: Have YOU Ever Done Something THIS STUPID With Your Car In The Garage?
My thinking goes something like this: If you own a vehicle long enough, something is bound to happen. That's just a simple fact of life.

Sh!t happens.

And, boy, did one mom learn a big lesson. While driving a Tesla Model X, it appears the driver lets the kids out to enter their home via the three-car garage. As we all know, the Model X makes use of "falcon doors."

Unfortunately, the driver's side rear falcon door didn't close and it all went down hill from there. As the mother pulled in, the door was smashed. We're thinking that's going to be one helluva repair bill.

That said, we were just curious: Has anything THIS STUPID happened to you with one of your cars in the garage?

I recall in another thread a user shared their horror story of running over a paint can in the garage. While I don't wish that fate on anyone, it certainly had me laughing a bit too hard.

My mom in her Tesla X vs. the Garage... Which will win? Caught on Nest cam security.

No one ever accused Tesla owners of having a brain or any common sense.

Better question, why does the car move if the sparrow doors are open? Yes I know that cars with conventional doors do not have lock outs, but with the superior engineering of Tesla you'd think they'd have thought that the big pigeon doors could be an issue.

I cant imagine that the driver (ignored) the open-door warning signals. They probably misjudged how much the door extend outwards. It was a silly mistake - like forgetting to remove a bike from a roof mount - before driving into the garage.

Actually there are vehicles with open door devices that prevent movement. That's how Jeep solved the issue with its joystick gear selector. If the door is opened with the transmission in any gear that allows movement it automatically slams the vehicle into park. A real pain in the butt when you are trying to hook up a trailer. Tesla could have stolen that!

I asked my friend who owns an X about this. He said when the door is open, and the car is in motion, it has a very loud warning beep that is hard to miss, he can’t figure out how that would have been ignored here.

Maybe there was a rogue quality control issue and the beeper didn't work. I know it's hard to believe that a Tesla could have a quality control problem.

Yep. Twice. Always a risk coming home feeling like a Zombie after 24hrs of racing and little sleep. I tried to drive into the garage with a bike on the roof. Funny enough as I was going so slowly only the foot of the Thule rack bent a little. Bike and the rest of the rack were fine.

The 2nd time I was not so lucky and I had the Thule box on the roof. The box flexed and then had 2 cracks in it. Duck tape to the rescue and it still works fine opening and locking on both sides. Just a bit of paint on it now.

Sleep is very important when operating an automobile.

The house has at least THREE garages so the owner is well fixed. They can easily smack up their cars and have the cash to make repairs to the house and the car many times over.
