As Buyers Gobble Up SUVs And Trucks, Automakers Are Back In The Crosshairs Of Climate Policy

BMW said on Friday deliveries by its main luxury brand rose 2% to a record 2,168,516 vehicles last year, thanks to a 21% jump in sales of its “X” branded sport-utility vehicles (SUV) which now make up 44% of the BMW brand’s global sales.

At Mercedes-Benz, the world’s best selling premium car brand, every third luxury car sold last year was an SUV.

Automakers across the world are investing billions in electric vehicles to try to meet tougher emissions regulations. But the jury is out on how many drivers will buy them.

“Consumer preferences for SUVs could offset the benefits from electric cars,” the International Energy Agency (IEA) warned in its November World Energy Outlook 2019 report...

I keep thinking how much people are hypocrites. They drone on and on about climate change, but opt for heavier, less efficient SUVs.

Until or unless it hits most people in their pocketbooks talk is cheap. $6.00 or higher for a gallon of gas would change everything.

The Alt Left has infected the main stream on the climate change issue. At least conceptually. They still drive SUVs, drink from plastic bottles, go to the movies where large amounts of energy are used on air conditioning and lights, etc... I could go on and on.

@SanJose - Not to mention the massive amounts of environmental impact to manufacture the battery and the car, but just ignore that, and feel good that you are pretending the save to the planet and your kids future.

As a snowboarder, I have seen wild change in weather patterns for our winters here in Michigan and its driving me crazy at times. We are not getting the heavy winter storms with snow at times typical for January in southeast Michigan but rain/sleet in the past 2 winters or so. Going out to Colorado the weather is way better but not the same as 10 years ago. Its definitely being felt. I am considering the new Audi Etron GT sedan to replace my A7 if not the RS7 which I find myself telling myself its not worth it...

News flash. The earth goes through weather cycles based on the Sun’s activity. Using a only a 100 year time span for data is insane.

Actually I am also considering the Rivian R1S.

"Climate Change Policy" is a Democrat party liberal scam to centralize power over the population and business. The billions paid for "climate change" will not do anything to change climate but will hugely enrich the radical left pocketbook with is marching towards Communism.
Kiss your freedom, choice and independence GOOD-BYE.
