2020 Genesis G90 To Start At Just $73,195 - Who Should Be Worried?

An order guide recently issued for the 2020 Genesis G90 has revealed what customers will have to pay in the U.S. to get the brand’s new flagship sedan.

As reported by Cars Direct, the G90 will be sold in two forms locally. Sitting at the base of the range will be the G90 3.3T Premium starting at $73,195 including the $995 destination fee. This model comes outfitted with the same 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 as the Kia Stinger GT, Genesis G70 3.3T, and Genesis G80 Sport to deliver 365 hp and 376 lb-ft (509 Nm) of torque. As standard, this model is rear-wheel drive but for $2,500, customers can get the optional all-wheel drive.

$73K for a Hyundai -too much sake in Seoul. This will make the Phaeton look like a sales blockbuster. I pity the fool (and depreciation) of whomever buy these fugly beak 2.0 cars...

Too close in price to the Lexus LS....Both cars are nothing special, but Lexus has a well deserved reputation for reliability and the Lexus sales/ownership experience is spectacular.

The only people that should be worried are those that make a living on cheese shredding. For $73,000 you can get this G90 machine to do all that you need to do. In all seriousness, Genesis went from making nice understated vehicles to now making over the top grille designs that will not lure in new buyers. This front end treatment is worse than what Lexus has done to its recent crop of vehicles.

To the extent the word "Soviet" can be used as an adjective, the new G90 looks "Soviet".

$73K is $30K too high. This will be a cataclysmic failure.

A neighbor has a 2019 G90 and it is very nice. The interior shows a lot of attention to detail. The V8 is smooth. He got a great deal on it which I'm sure many can, but it should not be easily dismissed.

My brother-in-law's father has a G90 and its a wonderful car but he paid 27% off list for it. Genesis needed a runaway hit and $50K would have been the sweet spot. Like the Maserati Levantate that is $30K overpriced (minimum) this will die an instant death.

No shit Sherlock! Sake is made and consumed everywhere in Asia and Koreans/Japanese are basically of the same descent moron. They also have great Dim Sum in Toronto or is that not allowed? Shouldn't you be working on Bernie Sanders election campaign?

This should have been a $60 to $68k car to compete against the E and 5er in price. Not against the bigger limos. At least not yet.

Agree. It's going to take at least that much of a discount to move them.

Yeah, not buying it. Literally. $73K to start, meaning close to $90K out the door. While to anyone comparing this car to the S-Class and 7Series will scream that it's a bargain, I would venture to say that most buyers of the S and 7 aren't cross shopping the Genesis. With the current G80 starting at $42k, jumping up $30K to the next base model up in the line for this brand is crazy. Yes, the E to S and 5 to 7 jump is even more substantial, but these are desired and proven brands and models.

THe buyer who pays that price for this should be worried for their own mental health!

But thankfully - virtually no one is going to pay full list for it - not even close to that. It is just an artificial price- from which they can add BIGGER discounts to - to actually get some of them sold.
