Toyota's Taking Tacoma Production To Mexico, Says NO Jobs Will Be Lost
Toyota Motor Corp said on Friday it will move production of its mid-size Tacoma pick-up truck from the United States to Mexico as it adjusts production around North America.

The largest Japanese automaker also said it will end production of the Toyota Sequoia in Indiana by 2022 as that facility focuses on mid-size SUVs and minivans.

Toyota will shift production of the Sequoia in 2022 to Texas and that plant will end production of the Tacoma by late 2021...

It makes sense to mfg the Sequoia and the Tundra in the same plant as they share similar parts etc. Moving the Tacoma to Mexico is a rebalancing but it would be nicer if you live in the USA or Canada to have received that work. You will see more balancing as we go forward I believe.

Simply not enough capacity. By 2022 a new platform will be shared by Tacoma and Tundra, though as said more shared components between Tundra and Sequoia. Besides Toyota builds less in Mexico than most others; GM, Ford, FCA, VW.
