BMW Design Boss Doesn't Rule Out A 911 Slaying 6-Series
Approximately four years ago, in May 2016, an interesting report claimed BMW could develop a direct rival for the Porsche 911. It was believed it could continue the existence of the 6 Series Coupe and 6 Series Convertible but, as we all know, these two cars morphed into the revived 8 Series range. Does that mean that there are no longer chances of seeing a new sports car from the Bavarian company, developed as a competitor to the legendary 911? Not so fast, says BMW.

Nothing BMW makes will ever slay a 911...ever

So you have to move up from the 4 to the 6 series to get a decent looking grill?

I can just see someone pulling into a parking lot and smashing into the concrete curb stop with that absurdly low BMW fantasy car.

No matter what the designer do, their fantasy cars always look just like a common 3 series.

BMW needs to combine the 4 and 6 series into a 6 series sized car that is priced lower than a 4 series. Make it a lot of car for an accessible price $35-55K and use it to draw people in. Base $35K gets an I-6 and the $55K gets a V8.

As long as engine is still in the front, it'll never be able to

Not a 6-Series, per se. But a Z6 to go one step above the Z4. Build a hard top coupe and convertible.

The G14/15 program was 6-Series, until 2016 when greedy execs thought calling it 8-Series instead and making interior material upgrades as standard fare, would do more for the bottom line.

That "8-Series" is only as such in name. The real one died in 1999. The internal 2015 design approval was for G15 "Sechser (6er)" coupe, never Achter.
