Germany's Ambassador Makes It Clear: IF The US Imposes Tariffs, It Will RESPOND In Kind...
The European Union is as strong economically as the United States, and will respond to any additional U.S. tariffs with duties of its own on U.S. products, Germany’s ambassador to the United States, Emily Haber, said on Wednesday.

In Davos, Switzerland, U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday renewed his threat to impose tariffs of up to 25% on imports of cars from the EU if the bloc does not agree to a trade deal.

Haber told an event hosted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies the EU would respond “in the same dimension and the same vein..."

Germany economy is in shambles! German auto exports to the U.S. account for around 40% of worldwide sales. U.S. car imports to Germany less then 5%. LOL!

Except that you guys oversimplify this. Yes, the Germans do not buy as many US cars, but Suburbans and F-150s don't really work on European roads. And Ford still manufacturers and has about a 16 percent market share in Europe. GM used to have two brands in Europe, but sold them.
There is more to trade than just cars. Of course bone spurs does not understand complex economics (per his own fed chairman).

The German economy grew 1.3 percent in 2019. Hardly a "shamples." You trumpsters really need more news resources than Infowars and fox.

The EU is scared and will be gone in 5 years anyways as it is nothing more than a failed experiment in social engineering. Germany is shitting bricks as the economy is bleak and the threat of "only fair" tariffs have them running scared. I used to call Berlin home and sorry but uppity Germans don't buy inferior Yankee products anyways...

Funny how everyone expects to sell to the US but don't want to make it reciprocal like it's there right to barter shit. If you want to sell it here -build it here. Nuf said!

qwerty, as usual your posts make about as much sense, as, well nothing. Both BMW and Mercedes have plants in the US. Many other German manufacturers (and other EU members) manufacture in the US. Nestle, the largest food company in the world has many US plants and a very large NA headquarters in Ohio.
And economies are cyclical. Currently the EU is slower than the US, but at times their growth is better. The Eurozone has roughly the same population, GDP, average income and home ownership as the US. It is hardly a failed experiment in social engineering.
Germany imports roughly $100 billion from the US and exports $159 B.
We are forcing our former allies into the hands of China and other BRICK countries. The deficit for goods jumped to an all-time high in 2019. Yea, great job on trade bone spurs.

I'm well aware of the German plants in the US for the "volume cars" but they also have historically always ran deficits with the US and need to buy more US shit or face tariffs to level the playing field. This should have been done with China much earlier with previous admins but it wasn't...

Germany is the economic hub of the EU with the UK now sensibly leaving and how much longer before they refuse to prop up all the failed welfare states like Greece, Portugal and the like? Only a matter of time before the EU falls.

Many countries run a deficit with the US in trade as we are the number one consumer in the world. There is nothing inherently wrong with a trade deficit as long as it is managed.
China cannot buy enough US goods to balance the deficit because we will not sell them high tech, high value goods to do so. They can only buy so many soybeans.
Trade us not the only measure of success. Many successful German and European companies also invest here, which adds jobs and other contributions.
Your comment that the previous administration should have implemented tariffs is off base.
The tariffs have accomplished nothing. The Phase one deal had nothing in it for IP protection as the much more comprehensive TPP did. trump took a simplistic approach which let the Chinese off with a win despite what he rages about.

Merkel is about to implode as her Fourth Reich dreams are failing. Germany will negotiate. Trump will win.

Like he won with the China deal, which was great for China and not as good as the TPP.

My business is based on global trade. Europe is the region dragging down the world economy. The US economy is solid and China is more robust than expected. Germany is the biggest EU economy and it it not expected to grow above 1.5% anytime in the next several years...and the rest of Europe is worse. Denmark has negative interest rates for 30-year mortgages. Is that a sign of a healthy economy?

Truthy: Do I need to explain that Greece and Rome were located in the Eurozone?.

Yonder, Rome is a city in Italy. And yes, Greece and Italy ARE both in the Eurozone, present tense.
Since 2001, the GDP growth per capital in the US and the EU has been the same. If you are in the top 10 percent income in either area, you have the same lifestyle. However, the bottom 90 percent in the EU are better off and life expectancy is longer in the EU.
Yonder, did you find where in the Bible it mentions the US and the EU?
And don't criticize MD, that's my purview. He is more open minded than you.

Truthy: Lol, dude don get me wrong I am the kind of guy that doesn´t laike ANY ONE who try to impose their thinking by the force. I have a Religion but I will never force anyone or even my friends think in the same way as me. GOD Gave us Freedom and that means diversity. Regarding the history, I recommend you to read a book called The Great Controversy By Ellen G White, Some people say she is crazy lady that wrote to make money, mi problem is that when I check what she wrote against the history she is so accurate that "I" can´t find a way deny what she wrote. As I said I am open minded I like to read, so if you can recommend me any pdf to read I will read it. Anyone who likes the cars or combat aircrafts i considered my friend. That does not meand that we will agree allways. Have a nice day pal, and sorry if I offend you in any way. By the way some times I agree with MD. (PD I am no millennial so I won't be offended easily).

With Merkle gone the complete breakup of the E.U. will begin in 2023 when Macron loses reelection to Le Pen. By then Salvini will be in control in Rome with only the passive Germans still adhering to the dictates from Brussels.

Perhaps we pull our bases out of Germany.. worth multiple billions in revenue to the economy there... perhaps we let the "mighty EU" pay for its own protection? Not saying we are trying to get one over, but is the field really level? Not so sure about that especially when one deals with lazy Socialists...

You need to read more books. The 300+ based the US has outside our borders help expand our influence economically and politically. Becoming isolationist will greatly decrease our influence and economic clout. I work a lot in Europe and don't know any lazy socialists.

I tell people to read so that they have more than one source and perhaps understand the world a bit more.
None, none of the trump supporters on this site or any other ever support their positions with facts or sources. It is laughable and yet sad.
The common retort from trumpeters is name calling, insults and then making a statement that is demonstrably not true.

Socialists are very busy people. They're always trying to take from those who work and prosper, and give it to those who don't want to have to work to prosper.

An oversimplification to be sure. It is more accurate to say that in wealthy nations no one should go hungry.
What socialist nations are you referring to, because there are very few socialists countries.
