Is Chevrolet Benchmarking The New Corvette Against The Porsche 911 GT2 RS?

Chevrolet's mid-engine Corvette C8 may not be a secret anymore, but sightings of camouflaged prototypes have continued unabated. Footage of one test mule emitting an unusual exhaust note kicked up speculation that General Motors is testing the C8's first high-performance variant, thought to be the Z06, and the photo seen above—taken Tuesday—adds fuel to that fire.

A GT500 would be a better comparison to make. Those two vehicles might be cross shopped by the same US buyer. The GT2RS is for a very, very picky Porsche customer who won't be satisfied with anything else.

They are taking a page out of Porsche's play book...multiple engine choices and options galore. There will eventually be four C8 engines to choose from...base naturally aspirated push rod V8, supercharged push rod V8, a naturally aspirated twin overhead cam V8 and the top dog twin turbo twin overhead cam engine.
