Funny. I pulled a Sienna and a 5 Series out of a baseball outfield when the owners parked them there to help water an outdoor ice rink. Snow tires could get them there but not get them out. 4 Lo and 4WD with a tow rope can cure anything. My 4Runner didn't even have snows, but Michelin AT2's.

When I had my 3 Series I can remember being stuck in the snow on the street right in front of my house. I managed to get it back on the driveway and worked from home that day. RWD and snow tires can only do so much. Better to wait for the street to be plowed.

Tires make the biggest difference. I have driven many rwd vehicles (and awd vehicles) in snowy environments for years. From my experience good tires make the most difference.
