SPIED on the STREET! Jay Leno And Tesla's Elon Musk Are CAUGHT RED HANDED In The All-new CyberTruck
Imagine this past Sunday you're enjoying a nice, sunny day. You're going about your errands and then, suddenly, you see something big and blocky commanding a presence.

In one woman's case, that would be the Tesla CyberTruck prototype. And, that happened to her this past Sunday while she was driving in Hawthorne. Considering it's home to Tesla's design center and SpaceX, I don't suspect it's too out of the ordinary to see some interesting Teslas. But the CyberTruck is a bit different.

Mostly because it's a running concept vehicle.

If that wasn't enough, it turns out there's a bit more to the story. That's because Elon Musk was riding shotgun and, according to the lady filming, Jay Leno was behind the wheel driving. Perhaps an episode of Jay Leno's Garage was being filmed?

We'll have to stay tuned to see if and when that clip debuts.

See the clip below.

The truck looks really cool on the road. The more I see it, the more I like it. I have a triple motor one ordered and two years to decide whether I'll go through with it.

I don't think the 500k+ people getting one will see it that way.

This shit storm will be lucky to see 50K on the road.

As with the Model 3's "amazing" pre-orders, the orders for the Cyber truck are vapor.

Model 3 sold over 500,000 cars so far, so the preorders were in line with actual sales

This is not a true statement: "Model 3 sold over 500,000 cars so far, so the preorders were in line with actual sales." because it is disingenuous.

The 500K in sales--assuming that to be verifiable--were not to the 500K people who pre-ordered.

The 500K people that pre-ordered were largely ignored when production happened and by Tesla's own account, many went away.

But let's go one step further. If the 500K pre-orders were something other than fakery, the tally for Model 3 sales would be a multiple of 500K sales.

I think the max preorders were somewhere around 325,000. I'm sure a lot of those were cancellations, I know 3 people that ended up cancelling. However, given the Model 3 is one of the best selling cars across many different metrics, that was a good indicator that the Model 3 would eventually become a hit.

The truck looks really asinine on the road. The more I see it, the more I hate it. If I were to order a pickup, it would be from a company that has competent engineers that engage in responsible engineering and which does rigorous prototype testing. Tesla does neither.

It’s a joke outside but I think because ppl so desperately want something different to look at than the landscape of cute utes, traditional pickups, and sloping roof SUV’s this stands out enough to make them and the neighborhood kids go wow

Wow? Kids wont say wow to the Cybertruck the same way they didn't say wow to the Pontiac Aztek.

The Aztek was just a blocky SUV, it wasn't notable in any way besides the show Breaking Bad. This is a stainless steel movie theater prop unlike any vehicle that has ever been made. American ingenuity at it's finest.

The Cybertruck is a blocky pickup truck with a few angles thrown in. It looks like a giant triangle mixed with rectangles on wheels. The rear is one gigantic slab of rectangular stainless steel reminiscent of a stainless steel refrigerator door panel. From the front 3/4 view the front looks like a giant shopping cart that has stainless steel wrapped around the front of it. The crude wheel arches reminds me of a Tonka toy. If any other maker released a pickup truck looking like that they would get laughed out of the industry. I'm really starting to think that the entire thing is just a social project or a bet.

But what really strikes me about the Cybertruck are the tires. They are the same off-road type tires that you see on jacked-up high modified pick-up trucks. They are very loud tires (you can hear them if you watch the Cybertruck vids on the road, you can hear the tires from the on-board vids that folks made). People who would have never considered a vehicle with tires like that are now all-of-a-sudden on board. The reality is that they don't fully know what they are getting into. Because if Telsa sold the Cybertruck with tires like that the return line would be long. It would not be a acceptable daily driving experience on the road. If Telsa were to give the Cybertruck normal road tires it would look even more comical. Truck tires would make it a non-daily driver.

Okay, DeLorean =) I forgot about that one.

@LexSucks, I don't think those or going to be the final tires, but could be wrong since all of the other tires in previous unveils eventually made it to production with subtle differences.

Capitalism. Build whatever the hell you want and see if there's a market for it. It's not for me, but I like it when someone takes a design risk and builds something different than everyone else.

And if history is our guide, everyone criticizing Tesla has been completely wrong every single day in here. So please carry on.

I hated it. Looked like the Family Truckster from National Lampoon's Vacation. But in retrospect it's pretty clear that it was, despite its flaws, ahead of its time.
