Edmunds Laysoff 129 Employees - Is A Time Bomb Ticking At The Old Guard Mainstream Car Websites?

Vehicle listings company Edmunds will eliminate 129 jobs by March following what the company termed "a review of our business operations."

Edmunds notified the state of California about the job reductions, including a list of affected positions, in a letter this month as required under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN, Act.

I use to be a fan of the site using for car reviews and to help friends by cars. Today the site is a disaster, difficult to navigates and always seem to try to sell your local dealers cars. I have abandoned it completely.

Years ago, I also used to visit Edmunds nearly daily to check out their reviews and long term updates, all of which were helpful. Also enjoyed their build and price feature with "real world" (?) pricing. But they abandoned that format to become a dealer sales site and made their website impossible to navigate in the process. After seeing this story I went back on after being away for several months to see if anything changed, and it only seemed to change for the worse. Who wants to go on a site to get canned dealer pricing?

Did they get some sort of private equity financing that caused them to try to monetize the site more aggressively? I do not know the back story. However, I suspect Edmunds is not long for this world.

It was inevitable that CONTROL would take over the space with its Agents. THey eventually had to take over from KAOS - who were always doomed from the start.

I really really hate the sites that are out there that tell you to turn off your AD Blocker - after you have already done so. Many of the sites essentially tell you to DELETE it completely - which I will not. If I want to seea site - I will turn it off - but Edmunds found a copy of the Ad blocker in an Archive from my old Hard drive - since they don't have good agents anyway - I punted.
