Study Shows Americans Would Rather Drive Themselves Than Take A RoboTaxi

U.S. consumers aren't as enthusiastic as the rest of the world about giving up vehicle ownership in favor of robotaxi services, according to a report by AlixPartners, a global consulting company.

Eighty-four percent of respondents in China said they would consider giving up ownership.

Robo-taxis are not going to happen in the US. No company could or would take on the liability for every accident in their fleet. Much less expensive to let a driver be responsible for the liability.

Autonomous shuttles are happening right now on public streets, the difference is the route is fixed, the speed is low, and many have a human backup operator/monitor onboard. Liability and indemnity are indeed significant barriers.
