Tesla Upsets The Market And Readies Model Y For March Deliveries

Tesla Model Y first deliveries will begin in March of this year. The all-electric carmaker noted in its Q4 2019 Update Letter that the production ramp for the crossover began as early as January 2020. The company also stated that the Environmental Protection Agency has increased the Model Y’s Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive range to 315 miles, from its original 280-mile rating.

Tesla noted that the pace of its producing vehicles has improved significantly. Crediting the improvements the company has made in its production of the Model 3 in the United States, the Fremont factory has started producing the Model Y and expects to produce 500,000 units of the crossover each year. The vehicle is planned to enter production at Giga Shanghai in 2021.

No extremes are good. Tesla needs a meaningful competition and neither the legacies not startups seem to be able to catch up, at least they now realize they have to. The kicking and screaming will continue.

This will be the most important vehicle for Tesla that places them in the most fiercely competitive market there is right now, cute utes....

Will soccer moms, executive assistants, young professionals, and students trade their beloved practical cute utes for one with a socket...time will only tell, I love competition!

As long as dads don't forget to plug them in every night, otherwise pandemonium will ensue next morning ;)

They should have had the roof be higher in the back for more luggage room. A 3rd row is silly in a CUV this small. I am sure it will do just fine once it is on sale.

Initially it will be closer to $70K.

It's $4k more than the Model 3 at the same trim level, which I think could be a bit lower.

$61k for the Performance edition
$52k for AWD

Both have 315 miles of range unless you get the giant rims.

And the pilot models will be sold directly to customers and the quality will be atrocious like was the case with the Model 3.

Model 3 quality issues like panel gaps have all been resolved, since the Model Y is 75% 3, they are unlikely to carry over. The prototypes videoed so far look polished nicely.

I'm curious to see how it does. where I live the are 3 all over the place, but the smaller crossover is just as unattractive as the larger X, which seem to be a sales failure.

Tesla desperately needs better styling. That is ungainly and terrible looking.

Based on the investor meeting, the line is in the factory somewhere. The tent is for some variant of the Model 3. Mine was built in the tent and it turned out great.

I don't but I sure am a happy investor! 2000% return on the stock, I wish I didn't sell some at $200/share a few years ago.

Damn someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning haven't you mr darringer. What the hell is your beef with Tesla in all honesty? Is Elon a perfect CEO, no he isn't. Is Tesla a perfect company, no they aren't, do they have perfect products, no not even close. By the way when was the last time we heard about a model 3 catching fire? There was maybe 2 reported in 2019? Look at what he and Tesla employees created in general. As a 16 year old company Tesla has,
* Reinvigorated the alternate fuel mission (specifically EVs in this case)
* Innovating and driving a sustainable market (solar and battery storage)
* created jobs globally
* continued US driven innovation leadership
* created probably the most exciting financial equity space to date. Glad I am still holding
* forcing change of the legacy auto industry mindset
* Still in my corner of the world, hearing excited comments from kids who gets excited at just seeing one

Love what ford, Porsche, bmw, hell even Nissan, etc are doing with their EVs. It is great to see the change happening. Your comments continues to amaze. love to hear your story one day on what you've done to contribute to the world economy and the lives of others in the same way Elon has on his personal mission. Kudos to Elon and every entrepreneur out there who is creating jobs and driving change as Elon has. I guess I just honestly don't understand your points or views of Tesla. It just seems like bitching, jealousy, shorting tactic, or as I can tell you are intentionally trying to provoke. All which is fine. Whatever floats your boat.
