Too Good To Be True? GM Teases 1,000HP and 11,500 lb-ft of Torque For New EV Hummer
Hummer is dead no more. It will be officially reborn as the GMC Hummer EV, GMC’s first all-electric truck, to be built at General Motors’ Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant. And its numbers are unreal.

The truck will apparently have 1,000 horsepower, 11,500 lb-ft of torque and will be able to do zero to 60 mph in a claimed three seconds, according to a company press release.

Not unlike Ford using the Mustang name on the Mach E, this move is smart because most folks know what the Hummer was in terms of its vehicle type. Whether you liked them or hated them its an already established name with customer understanding. This is one of the very few good moves I've seen out of GM lately. The C8 and this but little else. Hopefully they'll not give it the typical crappy GM "jet black" interior which stinks universally...

It's gonna be funny to watch the reaction of the environmentalist whackos. They were protesting the original H1 and H2 Hummers as "wasteful". Will electrifying them suddenly make it ok with this set of nutcases? Maybe Hummer E owners should get a bumper sticker that says "my other truck rolls coal".

xjug1987a: You are correct about the Mustang / Mach E name. As I have stated many times: A Mustang ( Camaro & Challenger ) should always be a pony car with long hood and short trunk ..... nothing else
