Desperate Nissan Dealerships Are Placing Used Car Sales Ahead Of New

Nissan's well-intentioned tweaks to its controversial stair-step program last year appear to be backfiring. Some of the brand's U.S. retailers say they are walking away from the sales incentive program after Nissan decoupled some bonus money from hitting volume-based targets.

And worse, the diminished pool of incentive support is making it harder for many Nissan retailers to turn a profit.

The largest publicly held groups..IE AutoNation, Sonic, Asbury, Van Tyle don't give a F**K about the employees. They only care about revenue and stock. Expect to see them start unloading these stores cheap... they have no patience for waiting for Nissan to "turn" things around.

This is kind of sad to see. I've had some great previous products from Nissan/Infiniti and now this is where they are. Maybe they need to go back to selling to fleet, to keep volume moving, then make adjustments slowly. Has the fleet demand decreased with Uber and Lyft? Many brands have moved away from fleet sales so I wonder the impact there.

There is a difference between the Bland low powered cars that rentals use - and the total lack of reliability of Nissan/Renault. Some Manufacturers buy back their rentals and then wholesale them - but that generally means no profit at all on the ars - why do it today?

What do you do with a stable of Nissan "cars" once their rental use is over? Cars are not selling, Nissans are horrible cars, where do you send them ?

Most Nissan dealers make more money off the used lot. Carlos Ghosn has raped Nissan and he needs to pay dearly.
