GM's Futile Battle With The Union Leads To A 4th Quarter Loss Of $194 Million
General Motors lost $194 million in the fourth quarter, including a $2.6 billion hit from the UAW's strike, resulting in a net profit of $6.7 billion in 2019.

I think they let it go on and used it as an inventory management strategy. Their inventories were way too high at the time of the strike.

What does a Union have to do with a 20% decline in Revenue? That is entirely a Mangement/Design problem.
