Gladiator In Trouble: Why Is That Jeep Pickup We All Wanted Not Selling?

The 2020 Jeep Gladiator is on Struggle Street, according to Automotive News, an outcome which is somewhat surprising but one which we sort of saw coming last month. It seems that $33,545 is a lot of money to pay for a pickup.

By Jeep standards, that price is about in line with what you’d pay for other Jeeps—the base price for a Wrangler is $28,295—but it does seem remarkable that the Gladiator is the priciest of any standard Jeep vehicle, and for no good apparent reason.

$33,545 is NOT a lot of money to pay for a pickup. Just look at the sticker prices for Ram, Ford and Chevrolet for their 1/2 tons, never mind what the HD models sell for. $33,545 is pretty much where they all start, except for the basic work trucks.

The Gladiator is not a Full size Truck - it compares to the Ranger/Colorado - which are less expensive and still have more interior room.

The Jeep reputation for poor quality is catching up to them finally. People who depend on their trucks for work will not buy Gladiator first.

Except that the Ranger ISN'T dramatically less expensive than an F150. The Ranger is $3-5K overpriced.

It's almost like customers demand reliability from their expensive truck.

Would the Tesla Pickup be more reliable based on their car track record?

Actually, Tesla's reliability is Fiat worthy.

#1 It's overpriced.
#2 It's not good at being a real pickup.
#3 Fiat "quality".

You guys gotta stop obsessing about Tesla and bringing them up in articles that have nothing to do with them.

What's with this $33K purchase price? I priced one and it came in at just over $60K. No WAY! Jeeps are way, way overpriced.

Overpriced. Lack of safety features - no side airbags at all.

Just watched an atuo repair show that covers the Jeep Gladiator.
Turns out, the entire front grill fasia is mis-shapen, sloping PLASTIC. Yes, Jeep has replaced steel with PLASTIC. Just what the hard core Jeep person DESPISES MOST.
No wonder Gladiators are NOT selling well at all.
