Report Claims Even With A Dirty Power Grid An EV Is Still Better Than A 50MPG Ice Vehicle

Electric cars increasingly seem to be the answer for lowering America’s transportation emissions numbers. Not only do they already produce zero emissions in the process of driving, but even pollute far less than gasoline cars when you take into account the emissions generated in the production of the electricity needed to charge them, according to a new report from the Union of Concerned Scientists.

The latest data from 2018 regarding emissions from electricity generation in the US have just been released, and it proves that only 6% of Americans live in a region where EV power generation emissions are worse than a 50 mpg car.

Nope, that's been the case for the majority of the country, and it's just getting better as time goes on. Five more years and almost all coal power plants will be offline.

It is indeed fake news because it does not take into account the Pollution caused by the mining of rare earth elements needed to produce the EV powerplant.

THe study in Germany - which did - shows that today's EVS pollute more than a current ICE car.

A giant power plant is more efficient at generating power than an ICE power train, not exactly a surprise. Renewables will also (finally) pass coal in the US for energy generation.

Indeed. Wind generation growth and impact in the Great Plains states, the Midwest and Texas in just a few short years is rather staggering. Not to mention that emission from fuel-burning plants is usually away from population centers and is far more easily contained and sequestered.

And if you really go balls out, as I have, your car and home are completely powered by solar energy. See here:
