FIRST DRIVE: 2020 Corvette Gets Run Through The Paces - Is It Everything You Hoped For?
Chevrolet has been talking about building a mid-engined Corvette for years – decades even – but we’ve had to wait until 2020 for the idea, the dream, the concept, to become a production reality. You might think this landmark centre-engined model’s arrival would herald a whole new naming strategy, but no. It’s simply the next-generation Corvette, so it’s simply the C8. The same applies to all the models so far unveiled by the company. The base car is the Stingray, the performance pack is the Z51. And so on.

Is ANYTHING - EVERYTHING you hoped for.? Open a Dialog - let people post their answers. I can only think of one thing that was everything I could hope for - MOM - and she made me say that!

It may even outperform my 812 Superfast - but it will never be a Ferrari

Since GM only plans to make about 30k to 40k of these each year, I still think there could have been room for the C7 to continue. Some will miss the storage space and the traditional look. A boxster competitor would have been since as well as an SUV or two. The C8 is what Corvette Mgt wanted to build and they finally have.

Watched a few first drive videos. In Canada it is not uncommon to see a Corvette with a hockey stick or two plus a hockey bag in the rear. Not going to happen with this model I think. The storage is decent, but not really on the same level as the C7 and past Corvettes.

The writing of the Top Gear article is asinine.

Seeing the C8 in person...it's nice but it doesn't feel like a Corvette. It would be as if Porsche did a front-engined car and called it a 911.

We've had no C7s for quite some time, so our C8s will sell easily.

I like it......a lot! Mid-engined, American, cheap to service, reliable for the most part.....sounds like a total winner to me.

100% right on. Can't wait to what variants are launched too. This will be an exciting and successful car and monumental as far as the Corvette lineage goes.
