NADA, NILL, NOTHING: Tesla Model 3 Fails To Lose Value In The Used Car Market
Tesla Model 3 is leading the industry in value retention by barely losing any value after a year and half the depreciation rate as the second-best vehicle, according to a new study.

Last year, CEO Elon Musk claimed that Tesla vehicles are now “appreciating assets” due to their self-driving capability.

Anyone who would buy a year and a half old car at only a 5.5% discount is a moron.

Supply and demand, used Model 3s are hard to find.

They are nowhere near appreciating assets though, that comment was a couple years premature.

New ones are a 3-5 week wait so not exactly a supply issue. Also the whole premise is misleading because all the other cars sell at a discount off MSRP so the actual percent depreciation (from actual sale price ) is less.

Malba, you are referencing new, while the article is talking about used. It is difficult to find a used Model 3, and those that are available are near the price of new. Myself personally, I'd take the new over the used, but some might want one immediately, so used it is.

Buy or don't buy. But don't complain. It is a hot car now, maybe less so as others come out.

Fantastic car. My family of 4 last weekend did our first road trip for a tournament using the Model 3 and were able to drive all the way past Pensacola and back. I did the math using the trip computer and energy usage and computed 157 MPGe. The entire journey for a family of 4 cost less than $8 worth of electricity. It’s almost like driving for free.

Before the trip I fully charged the battery. Any range anxiety was cured realizing we got back home with about the same charge I usually charge to on a daily basis (75%).

Just read that the Model 3 is pretty much sold out in Europe until the next batch of shipments in Q2. Sales could be a lot better than expected for Q1. They didn't drop the price at all despite losing the last of the Federal incentive this quarter, that should be a good sign sales will be solid.
