EVERYTHING You Didn't Know About Jay Leno's $50 Million Car Collection

Jay Leno has built a truly incredible legacy with many facets of that legacy that you don't even know about. Born in 1950, Jay has always had a passion for cars. His first car, a Buick Roadmaster still sits in his garage unless he's out driving it as he often does after he left it at his mother-in-law's house and someone left a note asking to buy it since nobody cared about it.

It adds to a collection of more than 180 cars and 160 motorcycles worth at least 50 million dollars. The most expensive car he owns is probably the most famous one, the marvelous McLaren F1.

He has WAY too many cars to enjoy. He doesn't have a real car collection but instead Jay has a long term storage facility.

Jealous much? He does a fantastic job maintaining these vehicles, and drives them as much as possible. Yes, it is a storage facility, but what car collection isn't? He has full time staff keeping them all in top notch condition. Probably better than the majority of collections.

THe problem is - as with most of these collections - unless arrangements are made for the continued care after he dies - the will just go to an auction and get split up among hundreds of owners. Since at least a few of his collection are special personal meaning cars - that means the "collection" will not exist intact in the future regardless. While he does have some real collectors cars - others are simply original shape cars that have little collectability.

365 days in a year. 180 cars, 160 motorbikes. If you have a schedule you can certainly drive them all over the course of the year. But you would have to be focused.

Folks that have met him out on drives say he's a cool guy. I say good for him. He has a good marriage by all accounts, has tons of money, isn't afraid to get out with common folks, and we don't see him in tabloid headlines.
