The 4Runner has just become an ugly duckling. The N210 from 2002-2009 was attractive. I do like the Night Shade edition, though but that's mainly because the color schemes hide the ugly elements.

The Wrangler is a nice choice but it's a completely different type of car. So many compromises in comfort, utility, etc for the character of this rock climber. And I get it, that's its appeal. I would have to have a Wrangler and a decent car to balance it out.

I have had 3 Wranglers. Great for off roading but the Jeep is a poor candidate for daily road driving. The Toyota gets my vote since it is a far more comfortable and reliable daily driver.

For rock climbing short wheelbase Jeep Wrangler is the choice. It'll go places the 4Runner can never follow. For driving on the street, the 4Runner has actual side airbags and a longer wheelbase for a better ride, so that's the preferred choice there.

I had a wrangler for 9 years and went to Badlands Off Road park in Attica, IN. The Wrangler and it's not even close.
