4 Years And 1 Federal Court Later - Kentucky Man Wins The Right To Have
After taking the issue to federal court, a Kentucky man was recently granted the right to his controversial custom license plate that was initially deemed by the state to be "in bad taste." Ben Hart's Jeep Grand Cherokee now proudly wears a plate with the message "IM GOD," and while seemingly nobody can prove he isn't actually the Almighty, we're sure plenty of people will try.

Yes. America protects freedom of speech and liberty from tyranny. I don't agree with his position, but respect his ability to live his life and say what he wants.

I'll take "Only in America" as a compliment in this case. Always good to have a sense of humor on these things.

In Canada license plates fall under the Provincial Highway Traffic act. And we have custom plates too. It's $400 CAD or so last time I checked. If you want "I am God" you can certainly ask for it, but a no is a no in the end. There is no court in the land that would hear this case in Canada. The word of the license plate review board is final. Pick a different combination of numbers and letters for your plate if you first choice(s) are rejected.

Same type system in US as Canada. And no system is perfect even in Canada. For 15 years a man in Nova Scotia had GRABHER approved and on his car before being asked to remove it. An Ontario man was also approved to have VI6SIX for 15 years before asked to remove it. Canadian bureaucrats are slow to act it seems, imagine that. And my personal favorite that was approved is SMEGMA. Seems Canada has its own DMV issues to address.

@PUG - Too funny. I am just amazed any court in the USA would take the case after the DVM said no. And yes you can slip one by the goalie every now and again.

@MD is still grumpy I see. I guess he had a ketchup sandwich in his lunchbox today.
