These are not the reliability rankings..these are the reliability rankings combined with road test scores. In reliability CR ranks the top 5 makes as Lexus, Mazda, Porsche, Toyota, Genesis in that order

Actually I prefer this rankings since I don't purchase a car based solely on reliability. This combination makes for a better car purchase, not buying just an appliance. Way to go TESLA, ranked better than Toyota, hilarious.

1.) Tesla is the highest ranked US company on the list, outranking Toyota
2.) If it wasn't for the Model X, it would have been higher
3.) Model 3 was ranked the most reliable EV

These rankings are not totally unexpected. However I can't believe Tesla ranks lower than Kia and Hyundai! ;) Fit and finish matter to people, surprised Tesla isn't lower in the rankings. From my test drives of all models, the fit and finish were all sub-par, in the S there was a piece of velcro sticking out from the dashboard in 3 places. Sure they drive nice and look ok, but I don't consider them luxury by any means.

I had a Hyundai than was much better built than the previous Lexus I owned. It wasn't luxurious but had 0 problems whatsoever and was fun to drive for a gas car.

And if you own a Hyundai or Kia franchise, you know that you're not going to be inundated with warranty work.

What is being ranked - did they actually base this on Repairs required - or were they based on surveys of customers. Surveys are useless because people tend to support their own purchase. And they tend to complain more about even small problems with Expensive cars that they overlook for lower priced vehicles.

I have said in the past - if it is based on customer surveys only - I want to see a sample of the surveys - it is easy to word them in a way that favors certain cars and not others. But even then - mechanics that actually work on the vehicles are a better choice because they can evaluate actual repairs needed so a loose Cigarette lighter is not Balanced with Timing chain problems.
