The GREAT Debate: Does The WIDEBODY Trend Need To END?
Over the past decade, we've pulled up front row seats for the latest and greatest trends in the automotive industry. We've seen amazing ones that blew our minds. We've also witnessed some immensely awful taste.

Ultimately, any buyer can choose how to express themselves how they like — obviously. But, boy, we can't help but scratch our heads and wonder out loud, "Why?"

The latest among these is the widebody trend.

Over the past couple of years it seems as though there's a slew of body kits and modifications for enthusiasts to rivet onto their vehicle. The end result? A cheap and tacky modification.

If you want to see an excellent way to ruin an awesome car, check out Liberty Walk's work. Even better, see anything done by Mansory.

Below is one example of a computer-generated video of an Audi RS6 Avant that's kitted out. Thankfully, it only exists in some mouthbreathers' imaginations. For now.

So, I've got to ask: Does the widebody trend NEED to END?

Wide bodies, floating roof lines, screen dominant dashboards. Autopilot, key fob remote control, rear seat tacked on headrest LCD panels, sad face steering wheels, haptic touch buttons, keyless entry, massive key fobs, LCD instrument clusters...

I could go on.

Looks like a cancerous tumor afflicting the car.

darringer: It's OK if ricer boys commit mass suicide. That would mean that their indiscriminate breeding of drug babies would come to an end.

Look you nasty racist POS, stop posting racist rants. I cant believe the management of this site lets you get away with your racist, xenophobic, homophobic and misogynist posts. I wonder if their advertisers know they are complicit by their silence?

Just as with other things as well - Capitalism and the marketplace will be at work as it is in lots of other decisions

Once there were LOTS of Station wagons among the Manufacturers - now raised Station Wagons called Crossovers rule the market. Various Body syle have come and gone.

AS long as wide Body kits continue to sell and make money - they will be available - then the fad will have run its course and WIde Body Kits will the go the way of Jensen AUtomobiles.

Speaking of Jensens, I just recently agreed to a price on an RHD Jensen Interceptor Coupe (not the glass back) that I've wanted for some time. It's a rare 1976 that is original, one-owner, all records. The owner (84) lives in West Bromwich and we first met, I insulted him by offering to buy his Jensen. I ran across him several times and he was still smarting so I bought him drinks about 5 years ago and we're been besties since. He and his wife came to California and they visited us at the compound. He loves my TVR collection but thinks the cars are garbage. Loved my Interceptor LS7. He's experiencing some health issues and the Interceptor is just too low for him. I'm thinking of meeting it when it arrives on the East Coast and driving it to California.

Nice to see you actually enjoy the car and use it rather than it just be a garage queen investment piece. America is a beautiful country to discover and explore.

When the weather is nice, I drive the Interceptor to my weekly meetings in Newport Beach probably once a month. It's a total magnet for attention when it's parked.

The coupe is a stock 440 V8 so it will be a complete gas hog. The LS7 nearly doubled the MPG but the car was a rough disaster when we got it. It ran but it was a full gut job, so why not go the LS7 route? The coupe being all-original, I plan to leave it that way.

Wide body vehicles are fine. Tacky wide body vehicles are not.
