New Less Expensive Sub Ranger Truck In The Works - Do We Need Another Class Of Pickups?

It turns out these could be correct as a new story on Automotive News claims that the automaker has already shown the sub-Ranger pickup to roughly 100 of its highest-volume retailers at a special dealer event in Tucson last month.

The bottom end of all markets need low price leaders to keep both factory volume up and customers.

Indeed, the current truck selection is getting too expensive and frankly the models are too large.

Ford also placed the Ranger's base about $5K too high. The base Ranger is a shockingly Third World device that is not worth $24K.

Ford wildly overpriced the Ranger then didn't stock dealers so people left due to sticker shock and then because there were no Rangers on the lot to buy.

With the launches of the Explorer and Escape so completely botched as well, dealers have focused their rage on Ford and Ford is in a "holy shit" mode of product that are stumbles (Ranger, Explorer, and Escape), coupled with customers not happy with the ridiculously inflated pricing, and botching the launches.

Dealers are clamoring for a sedan at Ford and Lincoln as well as low-priced cars that people want. A Courier would be a good move as will be the Bronco and Bronco Sport of they can launch them well.

The Focus sedan would make a good Fusion replacement which is still selling solidly in spite for Ford's attempt to destroy it.

A Courier is desperately needed. The crossoverpickup market will be big. The Fridgeline failed because it is not big and robust enough to be a full size pickup and too huge and heavy to be a crossoverpickup.
