The Polestar 1 brings with it concept car looks and an innovative hybrid powertrain and is certainly one of the most intriguing sports cars on the market. But, how does it perform against a pair of more established sports cars? This video from Auto Motor und Sport over in Germany answers that question.

We don’t speak German but the first 7-minutes of the video appears to simply provide a run-down of the cars, so feel free to skip ahead to the actual race. The race, by the way, is surprisingly close and well worth watching.

The Chinese made Polestar one is not even remotely in the same class as the other two vehicle - and a speed race does not change that. Putting a huge high power V-8 never made a Mustang a competitor for a Ferrari - even if they could make them go just as fast too.

Volvo's were never an upper tier Luxury Car (THey were middle premiums like Buicks and Saabs) - and making them fast and putting a huge price tag on them does not change that

That said, it surpasses 911 in 0-160km/h and beyond, when the horsepower eventually shows up

Considering what the Polestar One weighs in at I am surprised it came in second in the quarter mile.
