HOW Crazy Do YOU Think Prices Will Drop And How Crazy Will The Deals Get On Vehicles?
The word crazy is only one descriptor of the current time we are in. We all see the economic devastation across all businesses with these shutdowns and the daily panic being supplied by the media.

Certain businesses in particular are REALLY getting blasted. The restaurant business and cars.

ZERO good news is coming out of those industries.

So you know, at least in cars, the marketing people have to be in panic mode figuring out HOW to move the current inventory piling up on lots.

So we ask, what will it take for YOU to pull the trigger on a new ride?

HOW crazy do you think the prices and deals will get?

On our cover pic, a big FCA just posted a cover offer...to let people know they are open and that there are now 84 month ZERO interest deals on virtually ALL of their products.

What say you spies?

Im hoarding my cash and toilet paper right now as methinks we have an economic tsunami heading our way and deals will be a plenty in 6 months time from now as this is prolongs or during the recovery. Liquidity to capitalize on opportunities is my only interest -not depreciating assets like cars or wives

Sad to hear. The software our company makes continues to attract new business worldwide and we just had a big meeting and demonstration for one of the world's biggest banks. We grew 100% last year and are hoping to beat that figure this year. #happydays

A large Part of the Business I inherited Sells, repairs, remanufactures, and builds Medical Equipment. In the last 3 months - I have hired more than 700 new workers to try to keep up with demand. We sold a 4 year supply of remanufactured Ventilators in January alone (And I have in stock enough cores to rebuild twice that many again) - and I have enough parts in stock to manufacture 10,000 new ones - all spoken for. THe service people cannot keep up with the appointments (EVERYONE is claimed to be an emergency). And because we have always paid cash up front for supplies - I can get most equipment parts - many of which are made outside the USA - quickly. I am glad I did not sell out earlier.

My products and services help reduce the misery of others.

Except you Matt - you will always be miserable but then your are a used car salesman

I have not raised any prices - in fact most are reaching higher quantity discounts. I deliver most things for free now too.

Easily triggered Tommy. Your actions are not noble. You admitted your greed when you said: "I am glad I did not sell out earlier." You are flailing to try to save face, but you're the same old hypocrite at usual.

My lease still has 2 years left, so unless someone made me a screaming deal to get me out of it, I'm not in the market.

Lots of money is on the hood behind the scenes at Ford, GM, and FCA to name 3.

Then why are the discounts no different than before the panic? Only incentive financing has been added.

Money on the hood happens two ways. One way is to offer cash to the customer directly. The other is to give the dealer an incentive on every car of a certain model they sell.

For example, Toyota is offering $1K off on the Supra, but because it's such a sales turd, there is a dealer incentive for each one the dealer sells.

Then why aren't the big dealers giving that money away or at least splitting it to move large volume, for an even bigger unit bonus?

It's not a lump sum and if you've got a 0% offer you're not going to have money to the dealer too.

There is also an expectation of discretion that if there is say a $2K incentive to the dealer that the dealer doesn't turn around and publicize that.

Now stay with me here. Manufacturers that have shut down lines are not interested in cleaning out inventory with fire-sale prices, but they are trying to keep dealers getting some volume. So, it's a balancing act.

This: "...why aren't the big dealers giving that money away or at least splitting it to move large volume..." misses the point. If I have $2K to sell a Sedan-O-Matic, I get it AFTER the sale. I can't "split" it until I have it. Moreover, a business is not a charity, so why would dealers give the money away?

Right now dealers have to very quickly balance sales and inventory because if the flow of cars comes to a dead stop, we'll have to slow sales to have inventory.

If anything, dealers could see fewer units of sales, but at a greater profit in some cases.
