Toyota Steps Up To Make Face Masks And Ventilators In Multiple US Factories

Toyota factories in North America are gearing up to start making face shields and ventilators.

The Japanese automotive manufacturer announced on Friday that several factories would begin producing face shields and ventilators that are needed to address shortages driven by the coronavirus. The company also said it would be making in-kind contributions and cash donations to nonprofit organizations.

“Toyota’s core value has always been to contribute to society in meaningful ways beyond providing mobility for our customers,” said Ted Ogawa, the incoming CEO of Toyota in North America.

Mary "the gender token" Barra must resign.

Toyota gets it. Making ventilators to appease the Chicken Littles who are in herd mentality is good PR.

Great job Toyota, this is the perfect way to recover from the 3.2 million vehicle recall you issued a few weeks ago for the fuel pump fix to stop vehicles from catching fire.

A sure fire way to remain in the the hearts & souls of Americans that you’ve noticed are starting to buy more Korean products than you’d like in recent years especially given your tense relations with China and Lexus dwindling market share.

Way to go PR team

That's precisely why they did it and why it's brilliant PR.

Toyota is a good corporate citizen and pays the non unionized work force well at the Ontario plants and I like to reward companies like this with my business whenever possible. Recalls happen and it's how you deal with them or not (GM) so good for Toyota and all the other companies coming forward and contributing where they can. I wish I could do the same with my factory but my supply chains are all kiboshed with this damn virus and Im burning through cash as I refuse to lay my guys off.

India has made 1.3B people stay home or there about. The USA should do the same and put aside any thoughts of "getting the economy going again" by Easter. Nip it in the bud like China did. Other asian nations are also past the peak and have declining case loads. The West needs to do the same.

Typical Alt-Left fascist-socialist mindset: "put aside any thoughts of "getting the economy going again".

India is a POORLY run country and you hold them up as the Holy Grail of good leadership?

Idiocy.

@MD- I used to date a doctor with 2 Phd's, one in endocrinology and one in epidemiology - the study of diseases and how they move through populations. If the US had done a shutdown in January or Feb you would not have the problems you have today with the disease. Cancelling flights to / from China was the right move, but the US did not follow through.

Actually, the evidence is not showing that shut down has any effect. That shutdown works is merely a THEORY but the data is making it a mockery.
