Time For The NAYSAYERS To Bang Another Drum? Is Tesla's BIGGEST Criticism OVERCOME On Model Y?
Talk to ANY Tesla non-believer and the first words out of their mouths are "But the fit and finish isn't up to par with people who REALLY know how to make cars."

Certainly not as big as they made the issue out to be but they were PARTIALLY right.

But they forgot or never learned what I did when I worked for Steve Jobs.

People are buying the leader/followers and their belief and vision, The product is in a distant third place.

They will put up with niggling things if they believe in what the founder and company is doing and the world future they paint.

Don't believe me? HOW MANY HOT WOMEN are driving around in Range Rovers with reliability issues as famous as their off-road capability?

See? You lost that argument quickly.

HOW MANY people read Auto Spies because they LOVE ME? Ok, kidding..we won't go there...

SO check out this video where they 'claim' the new Model Y has overcome that last obstacle...

People admire Tesla and Elon because they remain largely true to their mission, build the best EVs possible to transition away from fossils, and provide a wholistic experience using a comprehensive charging network (Superchargers, urban chargers, and destination charging on the go with solar and batteries while charging at home and to clean up the grid).

Are they perfect? Hardly so, but the contrast with legacy auto is rather stark.

In the case of Steve Jobs though, Macs were impeccable built and were pretty darned amazing on all accounts. To say that Tesla is the Apple of the automotive world just isn't a valid response. Mercedes would be a better analog.

You forget the MANY issues with the original macs...software bugs, slow floppies, small screen, unloved keyboard, lack of apps, no great printer. Same with original iphone. Every Apple is a beginning that gets improved over time. If only a 7-Series was like that. ;)

FAQMD,

My comments re: the printer were meant to say there was no good business printer/LaserWriter on launch. The Atari 520st (Nicknamed the 'Jackintosh' after CEO Jack Trameil...that will win you a drink in any bar on trivia) and Commodore Amiga beat Apple with larger screens and I contend to this day, that if the Amiga had Pagemaker and a good laser printer when it launched, Apple wouldn't exist anymore. And the iphone had A LOT of flaws in the beginning. But like any great Apple product, it was 5 years ahead of everyone else so it had plenty of time to perfect it once launched.

And user vdiv...send me an address to send the $20 to for you comment about me vs 009 or 00R. #Priceless because they are feeling the BURN...

The Y isn't perfect but it's close and is better than the 3 in just about every way. The performance edition has near minivan practicality with 600+ horsepower, and you can charge it for free in many places. Pretty strong value prop. I have yet to see one btw in Silicon Valley, but then again I haven't been anywhere besides a grocery store in the past 2 weeks.
