Cadillac's New Celestiq Flagship To MSRP for $200,000?
According to GM, Cadillac is supposed to be spearheading the giant automaker’s upcoming and head-first dive into the deep end of the EV spectrum. To that extent, there have been several concept vehicles that have been unveiled, publicly and privately, to help generate more hype and excitement and based on what we have heard and seen so far, there is indeed reason to be excited. The brand’s flagship electric sedan, the Celestiq, seems to want to bring Cadillac back to its glory days and truly recapture its self-titled “Standard of the World” status.

I wish them luck

So they showed us the Escala which is gorgeous, but gave us the "Escala-inspired" CT5 which is Aztek ugly.

The Celestiqua must be too ugly to show which does not bode well.

Cadillac should be swinging for $125K at most not $200K. No one is going to buy a $200K Cadillac no matter how amazing and gorgeous it is.

If it really looks good and performs - there will be a market. After all - there were people out there who not only bought the Butt Ugly TVRs (they were all weird) - but there are those blind idiots who still seem to favor them.

You try so hard, but alas, still impotent in your ability to drive the punchline home.

Actually Tom nailed you pretty good so own it and move on or are you that shallow and vain? I think I answered my own question...

At this price point sales will be so dismal they won't even pay for tooling nor does caddy have the snob appeal to justify such a price point.

This just will not work well for Cadillac.

If you are going to try to sell a car for $200k, best that the rear tail lights stay in the rear vs going way up and over the rear quarter panel. Board members are supposed to have more sense than designers which have proven to have none as of late.

If that actually something that makes production, it will be very sad.

It'll be like the VW Phaeton...but less desirable.

I've decided to pass on this opportunity.

As I've said before, good luck with this.

No one would be happier than me to see Cadillac truly develop a car worthy of that sticker price and rival Bentley and Rolls-Royce.

And no one more than me expects GM to find a way to screw it up with a parts-bin interior, cost cutting, and a general lack of understanding of how luxury works.

Except for the Escalade Cadillac can't get out of its own way!

So completely true.

I'd immediately rename the CT4 the Seville and promote the living hell out of it with strong lease incentives.

I'd kill the CT5 at the current rate of sales we have a 10 months supply. It's a colossal failure.

I'd keep the CT6, immediately rename it Elmiraj, and price it like a CT5.

The XTs are disaster mobiles.

Since you're keeping the CT6 I'd rename it Fleetwood, but also create a 2 door version and call it the Eldorado. NO ONE makes a full sized 2 door with a usable back seat. Twin turbo V6 Std w/a GM V8, optional and Blackwing in Fleetwood-V model. Also, put the Escala into production immediately as the Cadillac flagship called, Escala. Since Omega lives, it would spawn a smaller model and a CUV with proper RWD. These distinct vehicles would help in Cadillac's resurgence and pay for the platform...

I've said it before that current GM doesn't know how to make a $200K vehicle, they only know how to price a vehicle at $200K.

I'd put Fleetwood on the XT6
A luxury coupe sounds nice but they simply do not sell worth a damn.
The Escala should be produced as a Tesla S response.

if that Silver rendering is even close to that actual car its hideous and another predictable GM failure...

I'm hoping it's not accurate, but the bizarre side light is too bizarre for someone to conjure randomly. The Celestikon will be as dismal for Cadillac as the Catera and the Cimarron before it.

Agree with most of the above... should be low to mid 100s top. Should have been styled around one of their gorgeous and successful show cars... my preference is the El Miraj but some of the others would have worked as well.

1. Still unclear whether Tesla is a niche or EVs are really the future. So far, sure looks like a 10%er thing, not a mass idea because, you know, the masses all have the time to spend charging and/or have easy access to overnight charging at home.
2. Betting the ranch, as it were, on a sedan as opposed to a crossover of some sort is defensible how? Or are sales (specially after the debacles of the Blackwing and Omega platform -- investments that failed to make the money back) irrelevant?

Disagree on #1 but good point on #2. I still think they need a celebrity status/halo car. SUV afterwards IMHO.
