Think A Porsche GT3 Is THAT Much Faster Than The 2020 STOCK Corvette? Think AGAIN
New C8 Corvette takes to the track here at Willow Springs Raceway in Southern California. This is my first track day with the mid-engine Corvette! The car is prepped with the Chevrolet recommended track alignment. How does the C8 compare to other cars at the track? In this video you will find out!

It's all about driver experience. On a track day once I was driving a BMW 335i coupe and repeatedly passed a GT3.

Moral of the story is just buy whatever car you like and then spend money on some track days and coaching.

So true. I once was consistently beating a guy in a GTR with a Mustang GT, so the guy asked if I wanted to drive his GTR. He rode shotgun. I did two laps to feel the car out and then went for it. The ftard was watching and memorizing the speeds I was carrying. He went out and attempted to match those speeds and lost it. He had never been to driving school.

As for the GT3 RS, for DOUBLE the cost, is should be better at the track and it simply isn't. What is true is that the build cost of the Corvette and the GT3 RS are likely not radically far apart, so given that the asking prices are, you can see how much profit Porsche has built into the "cost" of the car.

Let me see some Nürburgring times when both companies hire race car drivers and then we can compare.
I could be driving that new Corvette on a race track against a experienced driver in a GTI and still get my ass whipped since I am not much of a race car driver.

Agreed and I predict the 911 GT3 RS will beat the Corvette marginally, but not enough to justify 2X the price.

It seems no one (Except for a few like myself) want to purchase a regular 911 nowadays. Porsche is making a ton of money selling anything GT3/GT2 or any other "specialty" version. These cars don't seem to depreciate at all and they have a huge fan club with vey deep pockets. That cannot be said for the Corvette, Porsche knows this and will continue asking an insane amount of money for GT3/GT2s. Personally, I wouldn't 2X the price but I guess for the very few that can will do without any hesitation.

I see a lot of new (version 992) Carreras and Carrera S around Los Angeles.

I think I would wait for the GT3 though.

I bet the overwhelming majority of C8 and 911 owners don't have the ability to take these cars anywhere near their ultimate performance envelopes. It's all an image pissing contest.

100% true and then you have the men buying them who--aside from doing so to overcompensate for what viagra cannot restore--no longer have the sharp reflexes necessary to drive these cars at their limits.

Yeh this is all down to driver ability. Proves nothing. If money is not an object a GT3 simply has a better build quality and the ability to rev to 9 grand. Personally I would choose a flat six over most V8's.Some V8's like Mustang Bullit or Jag F type R are close in terms of noise quality to the flat six.
