Could The Porsche 911 Turbo Be Your Everyday Super Car?

Could The Porsche 911 Turbo Be Your Everyday Super Car?
Taken objectively, the last Porsche 911 Turbo was all the sports car you’d ever need. Its jet speed and sure-footed handling combined with all the boring-but-true facts about being reliable and easy to live to make it nigh on perfect. But, thanks to our monkey brains’ insatiable desire for more power, control, grip and car park status, it wasn’t all that you’d want forever.

Or a C8 or a GT500 or a ZL1 or a Hellcat or...

You could do it, but it's a pain in the butt on an everyday basis. I looked like an idiot trying to fit Trader Joes bags into my frunk and in the passenger seat and/or folded rear seat. Client meetings and picking clients up at the airport or their office is a pain as you have no room for luggage or work bags. If you live alone, don't have to travel for work, and eat most meals at restaurants you can do it. Anyone else should park this in the garage and get a more practical daily.

While it is possible to live with a sports car on a daily basis, as you say, it's not always the best solution. I'm currently stealing a vehicle each week from our courtesy cars for my trips to Newport Beach. Tomorrow--if I go--something with AWD/4WD will be needed.

That's the dream. GT in the garage and a fleet of courtesy cars at your disposal for when you need it.

Sports cars are a PIA to live with a a daily driver. The crossover SUV OTOH, is about perfect for this task.

If sloppy/tipsy handling is what you love, sure.

You're not wrong on the SUV front, but you need another car to satisfy the driving desire. While I love my Cayenne S as my daily beater, it honestly sucks from an excitement of driving standpoint. With stay-at-home life we are dealing with I went for a long drive up the coast this past weekend and there was nothing exciting about driving the Cayenne. I am waiting on some relief in 991 prices and jumping back into the 911 for the weekend and Cayenne for weekdays life. It's unfortunate that there isn't one car that can really cover all the bases.

I took the wife's X7 on my jaunt to Newport Beach last night and it was great for the inclement weather and yes it's luxurious and smooth, but it's more safe/secure than exciting. It was definitely the better choice for the conditions, but yeah...safe and secure.

Matt Farah did a review. It's a great car but the performance of the C4S is so high this is a bit unnecessary and it does not really "Feel" any different under 100mph. There is nothing different or special on the interior. Only the exterior.
There is a clear difference with a GT3RS. With the Turbo and Turbo S you really need to think about why you are spending the extra money.

Its a great car for people with money to burn. The problem is that if your going to spend that kind of money you want something that looks like an exotic 200K car rather than something that looks similar to a 100K base Carrera. A Maclaren 570 or the base front engine Ferraris at least give you some exotic looks. The Porsche looks rather normal in comparison. Since 99.9% of the people will never take them close to the limits of performance 200K should be more about looking exotic.

Just throw a GT3-RS style big ol obnoxious wing on it if you want it to look "special".
