Model S And Model X Get Cheetah Launch Mode For Enhanced Acceleration

Thought the Tesla Model S Performance and Model X Performance had reached the limit of their acceleration? Think again.

As standard, the two flagship Tesla models are among the fastest-accelerating vehicles on the planet, regardless of class. In fact, the Model S Performance can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 2.5 seconds while the Model X Performance can reach the same mark in under 3 seconds.

They are still building the S and the X?

No one buys the S/X anymore. But they will all become robotaxis and be worth $200k soon, LOL. Next they will beat the Taycan on the 'ring and then drive autonomously cross country. Oh wait, none of those claims will ever come true.

I down voted you by accident. Sorry

Tesla should instead work on making their performance numbers repeatable.

They are repeatable, check out Drag Times (notice the cars he has in his garage) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=Grlj7_itDX8&feature=emb_logo

It looks like they added about 40 horsepower in the update. Not only did they change the "stance" of the car but they simplified how you access launch mode (floor the brake, floor the accelerator, wait a few seconds, life brake). You can do that every 2 minutes. This is going to kill at the dragstrip.

And then the battery dies and it becomes a giant paper weight and/or the heat from the battery after time at the drag strip causes the car to incinerate.

Battery is fine, and there is no chance of turning it into a paperweight even if you take it to 0%. (You can brick the original Roadster if you take it to 0%, but not any other Tesla). You can do dozens of high speed runs and still be well below under 3 seconds.
