Look Out RAPTOR, Tesla's Plaid Cybertruck Has YOU In The Crosshairs
In what seems to be the automotive equivalent of a brazen act intended to show dominance, Elon Musk has announced on Twitter that Tesla will be releasing a “Plaid” version of the Cybertruck. Musk did not provide further details in his tweet, though there is little doubt that the feature will make the already daunting Tri-Motor pickup into something downright scary for its fossil fuel-powered rivals like the Ford F-150 Raptor

Elon Musk’s Plaid Cybertruck revelation was shared on Twitter late Wednesday. While responding to Tesla owner-enthusiast and Third Row Podcast member Sofiaan Fraval, Musk stated that he would be driving a Plaid version of the all-electric pickup truck for personal use. This came as a pleasant surprise to the EV community, especially since this is the first time that such a version of the Cybertruck has been mentioned.

This toy really changed my perception of Tesla

Given the clearance and specs, I think it would do just fine.

Collect your check from Elon. On the first jump, this thing would come down and break in half.

It's going to be heavy, but have a low center of gravity, a flat floor, and 16 inches of ground clearance (more than any stock truck being sold today). With the 3 motor version, the traction should also be insane. I'm optimistic it will perform well along with the other electric trucks from Rivian and Ford.

Teslarati, the cult fan page misses the point of the Raptor. The Tesla fans only conceive performance as 0-60 times. The Raptor is about off-road capability, all Telsa does is tout big spec without backing them up. The Cyber Truck has (supposedly) 16" of ground clearance, well is that off of a fragile airbag suspension. I would far more trust the Raptor with its Fox tuned 14" of ground clearance and racing history.

Oh, buy the way still waiting for those official Nurburgring times.

I think it is using air springs and dampers and not airbags for the suspension but could be wrong. Model S suspension is great and this is the next gen version of it.

Raptor drivers are gonna be laughing heartily as these FuglyTrucks owners run out of charge and get stuck trying to maneuver "off-road". Regular truck owners are gonna be laughing heartily as they wonder who the hell would drive such a fugly POS.

Any first year sheet metal student could pop one of these out in no time. Speed to market with minimal tooling costs for the body panels at least

Definitely will be interesting to see how it does off road. I still think a good large collapsable solar panel should be standard. Run out of charge in the wilds, deploy your solar panel. Can't do that with an ICE vehicle.

Small one is supposed to be an option for up to 15 miles per day of charge. A foldout one would be amazing for camping.

I hope the Plaid version is the 3-motor one with a 0-60 of 2.9 seconds. I wouldn't want to pay an extra $10-20k for another variant above 3-motor, 500 miles. I can't imagine them making the truck any faster that 2.9, that's already insane.

A 3 second truck would be a dangerous vehicle on the road, with its high center of mass - especially with the number of idiots who buy these things and think they can be Ricky Racer. The only good thing about it is the damned thing is so fugly, everyone will notice it and steer well clear of bloody thing.

Battery is on the bottom, should still have a low center of gravity.
