CT4-V And CT5-V Blackwing To Be The Fastest Cadillacs Ever Built

CT4-V And CT5-V Blackwing To Be The Fastest Cadillacs Ever Built
When Cadillac launched the new CT4-V and CT5-V, a lot of you went, “Wait, what?” The two sports sedans were considerably less powerful than the “V” cars they replaced and many were left wondering if Cadillac had hit its head or whether we’d ever get anything more powerful again, especially given their apparent top-tier naming. Cadillac wants to correct the record with a teaser of the fastest cars it’s ever produced, introducing the CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing.

Cadillac is still flailing.

They have the high-tech Blackwing V8 that aside from the dead CT6 isn't in any of their products. Why in hell did they design something that could not be cut-and-pasted into their other cars?

The restyling of the ATS into the CT4 was clever and well done. They should put the Blackwing in it and instead of it being the CT4VBlackwing they should name it Blackwing and put it out at around $50K even if they lose money on every one. Then promote the living hell out of it and lease it at a loss to get them out in the world and to start resetting the perception of Cadillac.

The CT5 is unrepairable. It is UGLY and customers that have seen it are very up front about it. The interior is literally Malibu-grade.

The real move would be to kill the CT5 rename the CT6 "Elmiraj" and base it at $45K.

Fastest Cadillac for the 75 year old guy who has to get to the club to play canasta before anyone else.

An encouraging article on the CT5-V on the same site. That said GM has wasted billions and over a decade with its pathetic meandering and rudderless management of Cadillac. When the ATS and Gen III CTS came out they should be building on that not introducing something with new names, and the pathetic empty suit "Blackwing" name... they spent more time creating "Blackwing" than they did thinking out their strategy...

The Lyrica and Celesticon need to get to market, but the latter needs a 50% downward market adjustment.

I heard they considered "ite" vs "iq" and originally the Celesticon was the Cellulite... probably a more appropriate name...

How hard is it?

CT4-->Seville
CT5-->Cimarron because like the Cimarron it's a pile of shit and needs to die.
XT4-->given LWB treatment and called Imaj
XT5-->killed replaced by Lyriq
XT6--> given LWB treatment and called Elmiraj priced like an XT5
Escalade duhh
Add in
Escala EV coupesedan $70K
Fleetwood the Celestiqua repositioned to $100K

Cadillac needs to focus on selling their core models before moving to uber-low-volume models. And ugly models at that.

I kind of agree and disagree at the same time. Cadillac has to rebuild their reputation and that means they really need to do more than just core cars. Of course the core cars have to be world class but they also have to get people into the showrooms and get enthusiasts talking about them. They seemed to be headed in the right direction for a while, but lately they are wandering again. I also think a great $100k El Mirage that stayed close to the original design, with either a V12 or an all EV would be a way to kick start their rejuvenation.

CT-5 with a stick is going to be awesome! Mark my words.

CT-4 meh.

Awesome to drive maybe, but not to look at. Have you not been in one? The interior is not commensurate with the price, not even close.

I have. It's not great but it's also not that bad.

I test drove the CT5 recently. I actually DO like the exterior styling, but like Matt mentions I was very turned off by the interior, which I found low rent and uncomfortable. It did not drive like a premium car and at $50k lacked essential features that were standard on the Subaru Legacy I just leased.

They need to kill the CT5. It's DOA for sales.

They would have been farther ahead giving the CTS the same treatment the ATS got to become the CT4. The CT4 will fail too but is is far better resolved than the Aztekian CT5.

The sad thing is that if I wanted a Cadillac CT5 as my loaner for a few months, I could drive one off the lot this afternoon. But it's just too horrible to put up with.
