WATCH: Tesla Demonstrates Autopilot Emergency Braking Feature To Protect Pedestrians
Tesla has released a few impressive videos of its Autopilot-powered emergency braking feature helping to avoid running over inattentive pedestrians.

What might be even more impressive is that the automaker says that it sees those events happen every day.

There’s a lot of talk about Tesla Autopilot, but one of the least reported aspects of Tesla’s semi-autonomous driver-assist system is that it powers a series of safety features that Tesla includes for free in all cars.

This is great for people who lack responsibility.

What about the ability to automatically crash into fire trucks?

Should watch the whole video, the part about stop signs is really interesting. There are so many edge cases to consider which makes developing self driving solutions insanely difficult.

I'm on the newest non-beta version of Autopilot and it's gotten insanely good off the freeway. I can't imagine it will be long before the auto-stopping for traffic lights and stop signs is rolled out. It can recognize hundreds of objects on the screen at the same time. It's super cool to drive through a place with many cones or trash cans to see how that gets rendered on the screen. When you get to a traffic light... it doesn't just render a generic icon. It shows you every stop light in their relative location (if there are 5 individual lights you can see, it renders them all with the appropriate distance from one another and the car), it renders the color including yellow lights, and if it's a turn light with an arrow the arrows get rendered as well on the screen. I have yet to catch it making a mistake and I've tried.
