Toyota To Kick V-8 To The Curb In Three Years - Embracing Turbo V6s Instead
On the eve of the electric revolution, it's Toyota of all automakers that's emerged as a vanguard for the V-8 engine. Eight cylinders are standard on its full-size Tundra pickup, Sequoia SUV and the mighty Land Cruiser. Lexus is the only one in the luxury space still stuffing naturally-aspirated V-8s into sedans and high-style coupes like the GS F and LC 500. But the end appears to be in sight.

It's not like the Toyota V8 was exceptionally good.

I hope to be able to avoid owning a turbo engine ever...

Turbos -sure they can be fun to drive in a rental car but realistically more stress over fewer cylinders and yet another expensive gizmo to be replaced down the road. My buddy RR Sport went out !k past his warranty and that was $8500 for a turbo rebuild and that was many years ago.

When it comes to my pick up give me a V8 any day for longevity, towing capacity when needed and long term reliability with fewer maintenance costs for negligible fuel cost differences than the T6/4 variants. Turbos only look good on paper and offer few real time driving advantages over NA mills.

As usual, half-baked BS from 009 when it's not political. Omitted the TTV8 on the top end of course, against the differing truck application of V35A-FTS intentionally?

Or are incendiary headlines with half of the story par for the course?

So, you throw a hissy purporting to know better, so say something that proves it.

New TTV8 will debut by 2022 in a few expensive Lexus models, including new flagship crossover, LC-F, and a GA-F product. TTV6 replaces UR engine, but not in F models. GS-F is dead, RC is further down the pike, and LS-F was supposed to get this engine.

New DF Turbo I4 will replace GR V6 in some applications on bottom end.

BTW I just this and didn't vote.

There is a V8 coming, but of course leave it to 009 to focus on the seemingly negative.
