Is The SIMPLE Reason Why Most Prefer The Telluride To The Palisade Because Kia LOOKS American And The Hyundai Looks Asian?
Two of the most game changing vehicles that came out in 2019 were the Kia Telluride and the Hyundai Palisade.

It's hard to argue with either seeing they offer everything except pedigree as the Audi's, BMW's, Mercedes, Lexus, etc. For A LOT LESS money.

We called it LONG before many other media outlets that these would be big winners on the market.

But what you didn't know is I personally bought a Telluride SX the first day they hit dealers. And I have to tell you, after driving it now for a year, i CANNOT imagine spending 30k+ MORE for a BMW, MB, Audi, or ANYTHING in that space. None of the competitive SUV's drive that much better IF at all, LOOK better or are the total package like the Kia. YES, you heard me right. For $47k MSRP for the fully loaded Telluride, NOTHING comparable touches it under 100k. In fact, when you see the prices on these X7's, Q8's, Escalades, etc. you begin to think you'd have to be crazy to spend double on any of those. And you think to yourself after experiencing the Telluride, all those vehicles aren't worth any more than 10-15k more AT BEST. In other words, you come to the realization they're ALL overpriced.

Now you know the Telluride and Palisade are badge engineered products from the same company but to me and MANY others, the design and vibe of the Kia are better than its Hyundai brother.

And dealers tell us EVEN NOW, Telluride SX's are selling for OVER MSRP and out the door within days of arrival whereas the Hyundai Palisade needs a discount to get out the door and they last weeks in inventory before a sale.

So the question is WHY? In fact, the Palisade is about a grand LESS than the Kia.

Is the answer as SIMPLE as the Kia Telluride looks more tradtional badass AMERICAN SUV and the Palisade looks more ASIAN style, like say a Lexus?

Q1 Sales for Telluride: 16,900
Q1 Sales for Palisade: 17,000

Not sure where any data is proving the Telluride is preferred over the Palisade. For styling, take the Hyundai badges off, tone down some of the front-end design elements and you got a GM SUV. The Telluride resembles a GM knockoff, too, but with the front-end of a prev gen Tahoe/Yukon, and the body of an Envoy. Asian what?

Telluride sells at list no bargaining. The Palisade sells well discounted.

I think the average American prefers more conservative design. The Palisade is more radical and the Kia is more conservative.

Personally, I think the Kia looks squatty and bland. The X7 and the Range Rover Vogue are the best looking SUVs.

I do think you understate how good looking the X7. The proportions of that vehicle are quite god especially when you view it from the rear. It has some of that E38 sexiness in the rear.

what hurts BMW SUV's is their external proportions. the Telluride & Palisade hit those proportions at the sweet spot & got it right.

subtle differences in design characteristics is what separates the (same) SUV for the different brands. literally.

i think the Telluride exterior is "a straight-forward design" - very similar to the past Tahoe/Yukon. While the Palisade plays more to the trendy upscale styling for the front/rear fascias. It's hit or miss. Kinda like preferring Audi's over Infiniti's or Lexus. How much do you like the new McLaren over an older Ferrari?

Both have a face I could easily live without. But the Hyundai looks like any US SUV from the side. The Kia looks like a fattened up BMW X5 from the side. I would prefer it myself. I have seen both in my area.

The Hyundai looks more American like the GMC product than the Kia. The Telluride reminds me of a Volvo SUV. I like the Telluride looks better. I'm tired of seeing SUVs with slanted C pillars Lexue RX, Ford Explorer, 2003 Kia Sorento, 1st gen Staturn Vue. Chevy Equinox, Toyota 4 Runner, 1st generation Acura MDX, 2005 Kia Mesa, Ford Freestyle,

Hyundai's designers play cute and it doesn't work well

Without that badge I'd guess Telluride is FCA's

The front of the Telluride is hideous.
