NYC Mayor Wants To Start Converting City Streets To Pedestrian Only

There are just over 6,000 miles of streets in New York City, and Mayor Bill de Blasio’s office said Monday that up to 1.7 percent of them might soon be opened to pedestrians and closed to cars to give residents more outdoor space in this age of social distancing. That percentage isn’t a typo! This is all very embarrassing and pathetic!

A majority of the streets—up to 60 miles, or 1 percent of the city’s total—will be in or surrounding parks, with the rest chosen in consultation with various community groups

Fascist-socialists love this kind of bullshit. Kill the mobility of people and imprison them.

Actually, he should take a walk. A long walk off a short pier sounds about right.

New York loves its fucked-in-the-head thinking. I mean this is a state with a large Jewish contingent that is staunchly Democrat even though the Democrats are anti-semitic, anti-Israel, and pro-Islam that sees Jews as needing a Final Solution.

He is destroying that city. More crime, more homeless, cops hate him.

Every time I've been to NYC, I've wondered "Why in hell would anyone want to live here?"

All part of the fascist left wing master plan - eliminate ICE cars, force people to walk, etc. This is another reason I will continue to drive gas and diesel, as giant F U to the whacko left.

NYC is a very cool place to visit on business or on vacation. 1.7% of the total number of roads is not worth complaining about, especially if it is just a road around a park. I would be more concerned about opening up the economy and sending people back to work with 1M COVID-19 cases on the go in the USA.

No it isn't. It's crowded. People there are rude assholes. And it's stupidly expensive.

And 1 million cases is not 1 million deaths.

The herd immunity goal can only happen by opening things up. Sheltering in place and masks are deepening the problem because they prevent immunity.

We likely have had 30 million cases already, maybe more. Also many of the counted deaths are bullshit. If you are killed by a gunshot wound and have COVID, guess what... you're a COVID death.

The sad fact, for "day late and dollar short" DeBlasio, is that once people start coming back to work in NYC, anyone who CAN drive to work, WILL drive to work so they stay off the trains, buses, and subways. People might also stay in hotels so they don't have to commute. Its going to be interesting.

Then there will be crushing gridlock and New Yorkers will be cursing yet another miscalculation on the part of DeBlasio.

For those of you New York haters out there, here is a data point. A friend just lost her father to a longtime heart ailment and we found out that there are no more caskets in the greater New York area. Things are really going to suck for quite a while.

Those of you who live in areas that are not hit hard by this should count your blessings and honestly be a little more careful than usual til they come out with a vaccine. Its not going to wipe out humanity but it would be sensible to be a little careful, especially if you are older and have other health issues. Go to work, but be sensible. People will just have to be sensible.
